The Neuron Suite - A James Burke Special
James Burke explores the mysteries of the human brain and nervous system in this enlightening and entertaining program that explained the workings of the brain in terms of a hotel operation.
Mr. Burke hopes the hour-long show will impress upon viewers that the human brain is the ''most incredible mechanism in the universe and that everybody has more or less 100 trillion connections in their heads.''
To put some of this unfamiliar material into simple, clear focus for home viewers, the program uses the widespread activity of a California hotel, with Mr. Burke as a touring narrator. ''We happen to think a hotel is as good an analogy as any,'' he said. Roaming the premises, Mr. Burke will compare the intricacies of hotel management and operation to brain functioning.
We all know what happens when a hotel's reception desk errs. ''The Neuron Suite'' will show what happens when the brain malfunctions.
