This Film Is Confidental More World War II "Secrets" Reavelled Disc 1
During World War II, the United States government produced literally thousands of films. Though many were intended for the average GI, others were considered too sensitive for general viewing. Classified or confidential films covered an enormous range of subjects, and while most concerned the prosecution of the war, other matters, by today's standards trivial and by no means a threat to national security, were also regarded as "confidential." It wasn't until years after the war concluded that many of these films were declassified. "This Film Is Confidential" features many such films...
• Germans Raid Bari - One of the most disastrous bombing attacks against allied ships during the entire war took place at Bari, Italy, on December 2, 1943.
• Bombing Of Burma - Though considered a backwater, Burma, and the supply line that ran through it, was the key to keeping China in the war against Japan.
• Supplies For China By Air - Beginning in April 1942, pilots started flying the "Hump," a dangerous 530-mile long passage over the Himalayan Mountains.
• Bombing If New Britain - Rabaul, situated on New Britain Island in the Bismarck Archipelago, was the major Japanese naval and air base in the Southwest Pacific.
• Bombing Of Berlin - Berlin was the chief urban center of Nazi Germany during the Second World War, and by late 1943, the target of countless bombing raids.
• Double-Header Marauder Operations - The Martin B-26 Marauder, a medium bomber, is sent against industrial targets in Germany.
