Un extraordinar documentar de calatorie realizat de BBC care il are ca si protagonist pe cunoscutul actor de comedie Michael Palin. Serialul are ca sursa de inspiratie binecunoscutul roman al lui Jules Verne, Ocolul pamantului in 80 de zile. Ca si eroul romanului, Phileas Fogg, Palin va incerca sa inconjoare globul in 80 de zile folosind pentru deplasare doar mijloace de locomotie terestre si navale. De asemena el va urma strict traseul lui Phileas Fogg, fiind insotit de o echipa de filmare formata din 5 persoane, echpa primind numele servitorului care l-a insotit pe eroul lui Jules Verne si anume Passepartout. De-a lungul calatoriei sale, Palin ne va delecta cu impresiile sale legate de obiectivele turistice si culturile intalnite de-a lungul traseului. Taoata acesta traznaie se desfasoara intre 25 septembrie si 12 decembrie 1988.

Episodul 1: The Challenge
In acst episod vom urmari cum Palin accepta oferta celor de la BBC precum si prima parte a calatoriei sale, in care strabate Europa. Calatoria incepe ca si in roman dupa acceptarea pariului la Reform Club din Londra (o sa vedeti cu cine pune pariul) si imbarcarea in Orient Express din Victoria Station.
